ARLINGTON -- One of two teens arrested Wednesday on suspicion of felony racing on a highway in a February incident also faces intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault charges stemming from a fatal collision later that month, police said.

Police said that on Feb. 14, Brandon Lee Burchfield, 18, and David Alvarado, 19, were racing and crashed into a cement truck at 2:40 a.m. in the 6400 block of South Cooper Street.

Police said the teens' vehicles were believed to be traveling up to 95 mph in a zone marked for 45 mph.

Burchfield was uninjured, but police said Alvarado and passengers in both vehicles were injured.

On Feb. 22, Burchfield was westbound in the 600 block of Debbie Lane at about 11:55 p.m. when his pickup crossed the center line and collided head-on with a Ford Taurus driven by Nogaelda Martinez Zavala, 38, of Alvarado, who died at the scene, according to authorities.

Both teens were bailed out of the Arlington Jail after being arrested Wednesday. Bail on each was set at $3,000, police said.
