Three killed in plane crash

SPRING BRANCH — Authorities say three people, including two children, are dead after the single-engine plane they were in crashed en route to Pearland. Officials at the Texas Department of Public Safety in San Antonio told The Associated Press that the plane crashed at about 11:35 a.m. Sunday near Spring Branch, about 30 miles north of San Antonio. The plane had left the Kerrville Municipal Airport. A DPS operator identified the victims as Carlos McKinney, 60, of Kerrville, Dylan Lord, 13, and Brendon Lord, 12. Trooper Randy Vick’s report said the FAA cited aircraft malfunction as the cause of the crash. Lynn Lunsford, a spokesman for the FAA, said the plane was at about 9,000 feet when controllers lost radar contact.
