The group that broke away from the Episcopal Church but still calls itself the Episcopal Diocese of Fort Worth is having its first convention since realigning with the Anglican Province of the Southern Cone.

The two-day convention continues today at St. Peter & St. Paul Church in Arlington. Bishop Jack Iker, who led the breakaway group, which includes most members of the 24-county diocese, will preach at the convention.

New congregations will be seated, resolutions will be voted on, and members will be asked to approve an operating budget of $1.98 million, according to a news release.

Local Episcopalians who did not leave with Iker’s group also call themselves the Episcopal Diocese of Fort Worth and are recognized by the national Episcopal Church.

Lawsuits have been filed to settle the dispute.
