Johnson County Art Guild Nov. 5

The Guild will meet at Crossroads Church, 110 North Caddo Street in Cleburne at 7:00 p.m. Joyce Thomas, of Granbury, will be the guest demo artist. She is a serious professional oil painter with an emphasis on painting "en plein air" and has exhibited at Art Splash On The Square, in Graham, Scott Myers juror; Lake Granbury Art Association 2008 Fall Show, Denny Pickett juror; group exhibits at the Langdon Center for the Arts also in Granbury; and a solo exhibit at the Visitor’s Bureau in Granbury. This meeting is open to everyone. Please attend and enjoy the demo, refreshments, and the fellowship with artists.

The Garden Gate Club

Most members of this friendly, informal group of gardeners live south of Fort Worth in the Burleson, Joshua area. Members share gardening tips, advice on flowers, roses, veggies and native plants. The group has two plant swaps each year – one in the spring and one in the fall – and takes road trips to visit gardens and nurseries. There are no membership dues and no officers. Military Veteran Tribute set for Saturday, Nov. 7 at Renfro Square

Once again, the Burleson community is coming together to honor its veterans with the Military Veteran Tribute at 2 p.m. at Renfro Square. The year 2009 marks the third year that area military veterans have been honored at the B&G Development’s Renfro Square, located at Renfro Street and I-35W in Burleson’s Old Town. This year, a 7-foot tall eagle, with a 12-foot wingspan, will grace the square. The tribute will include music from the Fort Worth City Band and Soulful Sound. The bagpiper will also return to play "Amazing Grace."

Lord’s Acre Celebration Godley United Methodist Church Nov. 7

The festivities will be held at

Godley Elementary School, 604 N. Pearson F.M. Road 2331 (next door to the Methodist Church). The fun will include a general store that opens at 9 a.m.; a silent auction at 10 a.m. and a turkey dinner at 11:30 a.m. - $8 adults and $4 for children under age 12. Then the real action kicks off at 1 p.m. with the live auction with auctioneer Benny Johnson.
