The Johnson County Chapter of Texas Exes has awarded its annual scholarship to Allison Brown, valedictorian of the Godley High School Class of 2009. She is the daughter of Todd and Connie Brown.

She will begin undergraduate work in nursing at The University of Texas at Austin. In addition to graduating first in her GHS class of 88 students, Brown was National Honor Society president, varsity volleyball captain, varsity cheerleading captain and a dance team lieutenant.

"Fortunately, we were able to double our scholarship amount this year and are giving her $2,000. We also are giving $200 book awards to two other applicants, Courtney Luster of Grandview and Chase Burt of Cleburne," said Kim Amis, scholarship chairman for the local Texas Exes chapter.
