On May 17, an unusual birthday party was held at Pam Wyatt-Aaron’s (1893) Hilltop Farm in Keene. The theme, created by Aaron, was threefold, she said, "... celebrating Lincoln’s 200th birthday, President Obama’s Inaugural Luncheon and my own inauguration into the 60s!"

The menu was prepared by a group of friends who call themselves the "Joint Congressional Sisterhood Committee" – Jill Jacobs, Terri Scott, Joy Wallace and Violet Jackson – and included Rock Cornish game hens and southern citrus pound cake. It was served on Lincoln dinnerware and replicated President Obama’s Inaugural Luncheon.

A Thomas Hill painting "Yosemite Falls" (1879) was on view. The art was also viewed at the presidential luncheon. The invitations were sent on Lincoln stationary, and after contacting the Smithsonian Chamber Players (they played the day of the Luncheon), the music played was "Corelli 12 Concerti Grossi,OP.6." Recorded CDs of this music, as well as "Hail to the Chief," were played.

Other decorations included a Civil War soldier’s chest (made and painted by the birthday girl’s husband, John Aaron, a Civil War historical re-enactor), a model three-dimentional rendition of the White House, a historical diorama of Abraham Lincoln and family, books and memorabilia of both President Lincoln and President Obama and a copy of the "Emancipation Proclamation."

Wyatt-Aaron has created other themed parties for her birthday, including, Memoirs of a Geisha when guests wore kimonos and ate Japanese food. Last year’s event was a celebration of Jane Austen, with guests wearing period clothing and enjoying period food.

"This Inaugural Birthday Luncheon was, by far, my greatest undertaking," she said.
