The 55th annual Professional Rodeo Cowboy’s Association Rodeo kicks off tonight at 8 p.m. Sponsored by Dodge and many other dedicated local business partners, this year’s production offers fun and excitement for all ages.

Sammy Andrews returns with his award-winning bucking stock and reputation for producing outstanding rodeos, and Barrel Man and Rodeo Clown Jim Bob Feller will be there to keep everyone laughing. This year’s event will be part of the Heartland ProRodeo series,an innovative concept initiated by the PRCA to grow the cowboy sport and increase prize money for contestants.

This annual event is the main funding event for the Johnson County Sheriff’s Posse and enables the organization to continue its support of area youth activities. In 2008, the Sheriff’s Posse was able to donate in excess of $30,000 (cash, scholarships and facility use) back to area youth groups and charity efforts (as with the recent Child Advocacy Center Bull Riding Event). The group’s other goal is to continue to provide the community and surrounding area with a quality, low cost, family oriented event that residents can look forward to attending year after year.

A Rodeo Dance will be held after the Thursday, Friday and Saturday night performances at the Caddo Street Grill.

Come on out to arena facility just south of the Johnson County Courthouse on Highway 174 and enjoy a family-oriented atmosphere, plus a full service concession stand will be serving the legendary "Posse Burger." General admission tickets to the rodeo may be purchased at the gate for $8 for adults and $4 for children 4 through 12. Children 3 and under attend free. Parking is free. Wednesday activities begin at 7 p.m. with the God and Country Night concert. PRCA rodeo performances start at 8 p.m. each night.
