Coppell man dies in Grand Prairie shooting

GRAND PRAIRIE -- A 22-year-old Grand Prairie man died early Wednesday after being shot at his girlfriend’s apartment in the 500 block of Dickey Road.

Ryan Anthony Charles died at 4:30 a.m. at Medical Center Arlington.

Detective John Brimmer said Pierre D. Thomas, 21, who had fathered a child with the unidentified woman, has been arraigned on a charge of murder.

Police said it appears that Charles was sleeping with the woman at her apartment when someone entered through the bedroom window about 3:20 a.m.

Brimmer said some words were exchanged and then Charles was shot.

Thomas was arrested at the apartment complex. A .22-caliber pistol was recovered, police said.
