ARLINGTON -- An 18-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death of a 21-year-old man last month.

Police are charging Tomas Alonso Herrera-Meza with murder in the shooting death of Trinidad Lopez Jr. that occurred on Sunday Sept. 21 at the Sutter Creek Apartments in east Arlington, police said.

Family members have said they were told that Lopez was shot inadvertently when someone fired into the air after a fight had broken out at the complex.

Police said there are indications that Meza is a gang member.

Meza also is being held at the Arlington Jail on an immigration hold and on a probation violation warrant issued by The Texas Youth Commission.

No bail has been set.
