GRAPEVINE -- A 52-year-old motorcyclist was seriously injured Wednesday night after a tractor-trailer rig pulled out in front of his vehicle on William D. Tate Avenue, police said Thursday.
Police identified the motorcyclist as John C. Sharp of Grapevine who was taken by helicopter ambulance to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth with possible life-threatening injuries, police said. His condition was unavailable Thursday morning.
The accident was reported shortly after 10 p.m. in the northbound lanes of William D. Tate near Mustang Drive.
Both vehicles were northbound when the truck pulling an empty trailer apparently made an illegal left turn to westbound Mustang Drive in front of the motorcycle, according to preliminary police reports.
The truck was driven by a 48-year-old Arlington man, police said.
The motorcycle hit the rear axles of the tractor trailer, the police reports state.
Police continued on Thursday to investigate the accident.
