Arlington police have arrested two 20-year-olds in connection with the July 8 kidnapping of a woman from a south Arlington Wal-Mart. The men are suspected of asking her for change, then forcing her into a car, robbing her and leaving her at a nearby home.
Kori Cochise Draper and Shown Shevontea Johnson were being held in the Arlington Jail on suspicion of aggravated robbery. The men were arrested Friday evening, but Arlington police released information about their arrests Monday.
Draper was held in lieu of $75,000 bail; Johnson was held in lieu of $78,575 bail because he also was wanted on several misdemeanor warrants, jail records show.
Police say Draper and Johnson approached the 51-year-old woman at the Wal-Mart Supercenter, 4801 S. Cooper St., about 3 p.m. that Tuesday, police said. Surveillance images showed two men leaving the store at the same time as the victim.
In the parking lot, she approached their four-day sedan to answer a question. That's when police say the men forced her into their car and abducted her.
An Arlington police news release credited tips received through the Crime Stopper's Safe City Commission tip hotline for information leading to the arrest.
