Body pulled from private lake in Wise County

Authorities on Sunday recovered the body of a Dallas man whose fishing boat overturned Saturday night in Wise County.

Divers from the Alvord Police Department found Gonzalo Salazar Rodriguez, 35, about 100 feet off the shore, according to the Wise County Sheriff’s Department.

Rodriguez and two relatives were fishing about 8 p.m. Saturday on a private lake off Jay Kelley Lane near the Wise and Montague county line, authorities said. At one point, Rodriguez stood up to reel in his fishing line and the boat capsized.

All three fishermen were able to climb on top of the overturned boat, authorities said. However, as darkness approached, Rodriguez decided to try to swim to shore and get help for the others. He disappeared before reaching shore.

A witness alerted authorites, who rescued the men still trapped on the boat, officials said. Search crews found Rodriguez on Sunday morning after the effort was postponed Saturday because of darkness.
