Haslet man no-billed in intoxication manslaughter case
FORT WORTH -- A Haslet man accused of driving while intoxicated and causing a wreck that killed a Chico couple and injured three children has been no-billed by a Tarrant County grand jury.
The grand jury declined to indict Colton Frazier McGuffin, 22, on two charges of intoxication manslaughter in the deaths of Jason Bruce, 30, and his wife, Nora "Beth" Bruce, 29. McGuffin was also no-billed on three charges of intoxication assault in injuries to their children, Becca Marsh, 8, and Bryan Marsh, 5, and a 9-year-old niece.
Prosecutor Richard Alpert declined to comment on the decision. McGuffin's attorney, Jim Lane, could not be reached for comment Tuesday.
Officials have said in the past, however, that McGuffin admitted drinking before the wreck but that subsequent toxicology reports showed no alcohol in his blood. Tests did find traces of marijuana in his system.
