Seminar to examine Alzheimer’s from the African-American perspective

The Alzheimer’s Association will present "Alzheimer’s: The Black Experience" on Saturday, Feb. 28, in conjunction with Black History Month.

This special seminar will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the JPS Health Center-Stop Six Auditorium at 3301 Stalcup Road in Fort Worth.

The seminar will provide an overview of issues that affect people with Alzheimer’s disease or dementia, and their families.

Some of the scheduled speakers include:

Rowena J. Maclin, D.O., of Maclin Family Medicine, who will explain the differences beween dementia, Alzheimer’s disease and normal memory aging.

Tom Clark of the Social Security Administration will discuss issues in Medicare, Social Security and Supplementary Security Income (SSI).

The Honorable Judge L. Clifford Davis will explain the importance of wills and powers of attorney.
