BURLESON — The Myles Show took over Burleson Stadium on Thursday night, lifting the Stephenville Yellow Jackets to a convincing 62-13 victory over Fort Worth Polytechnic in the first round of the Class 4A, Division II playoffs.

James Myles scored seven touchdowns in rushing for 312 yards on 28 carries.

"It always starts up front," Myles said. "You have to give the O-line credit because it starts up there. … But this was the best game I’ve had all year."

Myles’ seven rushing touchdowns broke the school record of six, held by Myles and Roy Graham. The game marked the first time the Yellow Jackets have scored more than 50 points this year.

Stephenville, 9-2 after opening the season with two losses, will meet the winner of the Aledo-Little Elm game in the area round next week.

If it’s Aledo, the game will be Nov. 20 at 6 p.m. at Cowboys Stadium. If it’s Little Elm, the game will be Nov. 20 at 7 or 7:30 p.m. at Saginaw High School.

Myles made it clear whom he wants to face: Aledo beat Stephenville in the season opener.

Myles scored six times in the first half on runs of 2, 2, 5, 4, 39 and 2 as Stephenville led 42-13. He had 208 yards on 23 carries at halftime, and added a 53-yard touchdown run in the second half.

Polytechnic (6-5) stayed in the game much of the first half.

The Parrots, in their first playoff game since 1990, trailed 7-6 midway through the first quarter. Senior Duran Hollis intercepted a pass, giving his team the ball at the Stephenville 20. Three plays later, Hollis scored on a 12-yard run.

In the second quarter, Hollis, who finished with 142 yards rushing on 19 carries, scored on a 79-yard run, cutting the deficit to 21-13.
