CROWLEY — Stephenville scored on four of its first five possessions and rolled to a 42-7 victory over Crowley in a District 8-4A game Friday at Eagle Stadium.

The Yellow Jackets finished as the district champions, led by running back James Myles and quarterback Conner Washington in the blowout victory.

Stephenville (8-2, 7-0) will play Fort Worth Polytechnic at 7 p.m. Thursday in a bi-district playoff game.

Crowley finished its season 3-7 overall and 2-5 in district play.

The Yellow Jackets, who built a 35-0 lead at halftime, wasted little time in taking control of the game, putting together a 10-play, 72-yard drive on their first possession. Washington hit Cole Stokes for 15 yards to cap the drive. German Chavarria kicked his first of six extra points to open a 7-0 score.

Stephenville led 21-0 in the first quarter and had the game well in hand after putting together two more short touchdown drives.

The Yellow Jackets used an interception and fumble recovery to set up their second and third touchdowns.

Myles scored three touchdowns in the game with runs of 14, 2 and 24 yards. The junior running back finished with 25 carries for 142 yards to lead a balanced Yellow Jackets attack.

Stephenville wound up with 169 yards rushing, and Washington added 139 yards passing. Washington was 15-of-19 passing, including a pair of touchdown passes to Stokes.

Crowley’s only touchdown came early in the third quarter when junior quarterback Sean Flynn hit LaBradford Harrold on a 53-yard strike. David Meserve kicked the extra point for the Eagles.

Crowley used two quarterbacks in the game, with senior Jonathan Hayden getting in the game in the second half. Hayden gave the Eagles a spark, but Crowley was unable to mount any kind of comeback.

Myles finished an outstanding evening with eight catches for 65 yards. Stokes added three catches for 26 yards, including his two touchdown receptions.
