BEDFORD — The Euless Trinity offensive line could have leveled a mountain the way they were pounding away on Thursday night.

The Trojans capped another undefeated district season and claimed the 5-5A championship with a 62-17 victory against rival Hurst L.D. Bell at Pennington Field. It was Trinity’s 12th consecutive victory against its biggest rival.

The Trinity offense proved nearly flawless as the big boys in the trenches paced the Trojans (8-2, 7-0) to 435 yards of rushing offense and touchdown drives on the first nine possessions.

Trinity running back Terrance Tusan enjoyed the largest benefit of the running lanes as he amassed 176 yards and four touchdowns on 14 carries.

Trinity is scheduled to begin the Class 5A Division I playoffs at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington on Nov. 14. The 11 a.m. bi-district game will be against a team from District 6-5A.

Trinity scored on all five possessions in the first half Thursday en route to a 35-10 lead at the break.

The Trojans’ offense proved a jackhammer with nitrous boosters as Trinity produced 321 yards of offense on 21 first-half plays.

Trinity took the 14-0 lead off a Bobby Brown 16-yard touchdown run and a 61-yard strike from quarterback Willie Hubbard to Brandon Carter.

Bell answered when Kenny Buyers sparked a dynamic kickoff return for 58 yards to set up the Blue Raiders 29 yards from the end zone.

Bell converted five plays later when quarterback James Mauro connected with Kenny Muwanguzi on a 9-yard strike.

Tusan then took command by scoring the next three touchdowns for Trinity on runs of 49, 2 and 11 yards. He carried 10 times for 120 yards in the opening half.
