Fast-starting Central tops Northwest

Keller Central wrapped up its season Thursday by defeating Justin Northwest 34-14 at the Keller ISD Athletic Complex.

Central (3-7, 2-5 District 5-5A) struck first, driving 60 yards and scoring on a 35-yard touchdown pass from Tanner Tausch to Israel Valentin. Tausch also connected with Valentin on a 64-yard touchdown pass at 10:17 of the second quarter.

The Chargers made it 21-0 four minutes later on a 50-yard touchdown run by Trenton Turrentine. Taylor Munguia caught a 15-yard pass from Tausch to make it 28-0 at halftime.

Northwest (0-10, 0-7) averted a shutout when Chris Bain scored on a 6-yard run with 2:14 to play in the third. The Texans scored again with 8:28 left in the fourth on a 16-yard touchdown pass from Barnhill to Cole Edwards.

FW Trimble Tech 20, FW Wyatt 14: The Bulldogs (8-2, 3-2 District 7-4A) wrapped up fifth place by defeating the Chaparrals (3-7, 2-3) at Clark Stadium. Trimble Tech had to hold off a late rally by Wyatt, stopping a fourth-and-8 play at the Tech 9. Trimble Tech was led by Akim Nixon’s 111 rushing yards on five carries. He scored the key touchdown of the game with 7:58 left in the third quarter when he took a reverse 89 yards for a score.

FW Western Hills 33, FW North Side 13: Josh Moore rushed for 162 yards and a touchdown to lead the Cougars (3-7, 3-2 District 7-4A) past the Steers (3-7, 2-3) in the district seventh-place game at Farrington Field.

Moore scored on a 37-yard run. The Cougars’ Terry Dickerson had touchdown runs of 2 and 24 yards, and he finished with 75 yards on 11 carries.

FW Southwest 35, FW South Hills 0: Wesley Harris passed for two touchdowns in the first half in leading the Raiders (2-8, 1-4 District 7-4A) to a ninth-place finish with a victory over the Scorpions (0-9, 0-5) at Scarborough-Handley Field.

Harris finished with 141 yards on 7 of 12 passing. Harris’s first touchdown pass was 50 yards to wide receiver Myron Brashear in the first quarter. Harris also rushed for two touchdowns. Running back George Smith led the rushing attack with 172 yards on 18 carries and two scores.

Lake Worth 63, Carrollton Ranchview 30: The Bullfrogs (7-3) finished off a perfect 6-0 run through District 11-3A with a commanding win over the Wolves (4-6, 2-4) at Carrollton’s Standridge Stadium.

Lake Worth scored on its first eight possessions to take a 56-6 lead. Ranchview rallied for 24 fourth-quarter points. The Bullfrogs racked up 637 yards of offense, including 505 rushing yards. Joel Rockmore finished with 172 yards and two touchdowns on 17 carries, while Bradley and Brandon Melendez combined for 143 yards and three scores.

Dallas Madison 53, FW Diamond Hill-Jarvis 0: The Trojans (7-3, 5-1 District 11-3A) scored touchdowns on all eight possessions to rout the Eagles (2-8, 1-5) at Pleasant Grove Stadium. Reginald Peagram led Madison with 141 rushing yards on only five carries, with touchdown runs of 2 and 65 yards.
