IRVING — The Green Bay Packers knew Miles Austin’s name long before the rest of the league caught on.

Austin’s first 100-yard game and his first touchdown came against the Packers.

Austin had two catches for 115 yards and a touchdown last year at Lambeau Field. His 52-yard scoring play in the fourth quarter gave the Cowboys a comfortable 27-9 lead on their way to a 27-16 victory over the Packers.

"I think anybody who makes big plays, you have to pay attention to him," Packers coach Mike McCarthy said on a conference call Wednesday. "Obviously, he’s a hot player with ability. We started it for him last year, and he’s definitely someone that we’ll pay attention to."

Austin knows that Packers cornerbacks Charles Woodson and Al Harris will be keeping close tabs on him Sunday, which Austin said could help spring others in an offense that has become more diverse each week since his breakout game at Kansas City.

"It goes back to training camp," Roy Williams said. "We have so many weapons, what do you do? Do you try to take away Miles? Do you try to take away Roy? Do you try to take away [Jason] Witten? Do you stack the box and try and take away the run game?"

Sensabaugh all thumbs

Safety Gerald Sensabaugh has played in a cast since undergoing surgery on his right thumb Oct. 5, the day after the Denver game. The cast had affected him only once: He dropped an interception against Seattle. But Sensabaugh made an interception Sunday against the Eagles and made 11 tackles.

Sensabaugh is in no hurry to take the cast off.

"They said if I re-break it, I’ll be out for the season," Sensabaugh said. "As long as I can still play and be effective, I’d rather keep it on."

Sensabaugh gets a new cast for every game, just before pregame warmups. Trainers saw it off afterward. Once X-rays show the bone has healed, Sensabaugh will play with a splint.

Gurode, Hamlin hurt

Cowboys center Andre Gurode (ankle sprain) and safety Ken Hamlin (groin strain) did not practice Wednesday because of injuries sustained during Sunday’s win at Philadelphia.

While both players finished the game, coach Wade Phillips said that if the Cowboys had played the Packers on Wednesday, neither would have been good to go.

Phillips said both will be re-evaluated today. It’s uncertain if either will be able to practice, but Phillips said he’s hopeful they’ll be ready to play Sunday.

Alan Ball took over for Hamlin and Cory Procter and Duke Preston shared reps at center.

Choice’s choice

Earlier in the season when it became apparent that Tashard Choice would take the direct snap in the Cowboys’ Razorback formation, he was asked if it should be renamed the Yellow Jacket since he played at Georgia Tech. After Choice rushed three times out of the formation Sunday, including one for a touchdown, he’s come up with a new name.

"T.C., that’s what’s it called, baby. T.C., that’s what it’s really called," Choice said, referring, obviously, to his initials. "It’s me going in the game."

The Cowboys tried the formation a couple of times early in the season, but weren’t effective in running it and ditched it before reviving it Sunday. Choice said the formation could become an integral part of the offense.

"We’re getting the wrinkles out of it, making sure the mechanics are right and it can be something really good for our offense," Choice said.

Kickoff return

Since he returned from injury, running back Felix Jones has handled kickoff returns, but Wade Phillips said rookie receiver Kevin Ogletree and running back Tashard Choice are getting practice time and could be used in a game.
