Arlington City Council agrees to rename two streets near stadium site
ARLINGTON -- The City Council agreed Tuesday to rename two streets near the new Dallas Cowboys stadium at the team's request. The newly constructed portion of Baird Farm Road from Interstate 30 to Division Street would become Legends Way. Rogers Street from Collins Street to Stadium Drive would become Cowboys Way.But the name Legends Way is just a place marker, Deputy City Manager Trey Yelverton told the council, because team officials may want to name that road after the company that buys the stadium's naming rights. Documents obtained by the Star-Telegram have indicated that the team has been negotiating with AT&T, but neither the company nor the Cowboys have commented on the deal. The council is expected to finalize the street name changes this month.Mayor Robert Cluck said he has always thought the team would ask to rename some roads around the stadium.Councilman Robert Rivera said that changing Baird Farm Road to Legends Way makes sense because the Rangers have the Legends of the Game museum nearby."It's a good way to move forward," he said.
