Scouting the Clippers: They have lost their first three games, including 111-98 at Utah on Friday. Centers Chris Kaman and Marcus Camby each have started fast. Kaman is averaging 20.3 points a game, and Camby 10 rebounds a game.  ... They will be without Blake Griffin, who is recovering from a fractured kneecap and is out another month.

Scouting the Mavericks: Dirk Nowitzki averaged 32 points in three games against the Clips last season, but missed the Mavericks’ win at Staples Center because of a league suspension. ... The Mavericks went 3-1 against the Clippers last season and have won 14 of the last 18 meetings. ... Nowitzki finished with 21 points Friday against the Lakers to extend his streak of scoring at least 20 points to 27 games, the longest active streak in the league.— Eddie Sefko
