IRVING — It’s pretty well-known that Texas Rangers right-hander Kevin Millwood is an avid golfer. He’s a member at Dallas National and carries a 7-handicap.
Last month Millwood traveled to Las Vegas and played a couple rounds at the prestigious Spanish Trail Golf and Country Club, a 27-hole course designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr.And, on Monday, Millwood joined several other celebrities at TPC Four Seasons Las Colinas for a round of golf at Vernon Wells’ charity event. The Star-Telegram caught up with Millwood before he teed off.How long have you been playing golf? I actually didn’t start playing until I was out of high school. I think more than anything it was just out of boredom. I was just sitting at home and my friends wanted to go out and play, so I started playing from there. What else have you been up to since the season ended? I’ve just been traveling a lot. And coming out and doing something like this charity event is always nice. How important is it to help another player with his charity event? It’s kind of like MLB players is a big fraternity, and we’re always trying to help fellow players out knowing that, at some point, they’re going to return the favor. Finally, any other plans for the off-season? Not really. So far, I haven’t really done too much. I just need to relax and heal up and get ready for next season.
