Some threw pay stubs as confetti

NEW YORK — New York City office workers who got carried away during the Yankees victory parade apparently began tossing files and documents out the window instead of confetti. Paradegoers found pay stubs, banking data and even some court files on the street. At least one employee was reprimanded by the owner of a financial firm. — The Associated Press

Tourist 'surfing’ on car is killed

PUERTO RICO — Police said a U.S. tourist who was pretending to surf on the hood of a friend’s moving car was killed Saturday when he broke his neck in the popular beach town Rincon. A police spokesman said Jorge Geysel, 29, an insurance salesman from Long Beach, N.Y., died instantly.

Man shot by police is identified

WASHINGTON STATE — A man shot by police as he was sought in connection with the Halloween killing of a Seattle officer has been identified as 41-year-old Christopher Monfort. Seattle Assistant Police Chief Jim Pugel said Monfort is suspected of killing officer Timothy Brenton.
