FORT WORTH — A veteran patrol officer was injured Tuesday night when he was hit he tried to remove a couch from Interstate 30, police said.The officer, who was not identified, has a broken leg, cuts and bruises, and was in stable condition Wednesday evening at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth, police said.The officer responded to a call about 10 p.m. about debris in eastbound lanes of I-30 at Henderson Street near downtown. He began to set out cones and flares.“The officer was out of his patrol car when he was struck by a vehicle,” police Capt. David McElroy said in an email Wednesday.The driver stopped to help, police said. No charges are expected, police said.The officer has been on the force for 13 years.
