Mike Lee of Decatur, the Professional Bull Riders’ 2004 world champion, earned $43,375 after winning the WinStar World Casino and Resort Invitational on Saturday night in Thackerville, Okla.

Lee clinched the title after finishing as the only competitor who stayed on all three bulls throughout the two-day show. He also was the only cowboy who made a qualified ride in the final round.

Lee is ranked No. 4 in the PBR Built Ford Tough Series world title race with 6,990.56 points. Joao Ricardo Vieira, who finished second at the Thackerville tour stop, is ranked No. 1 with 7,598.50. Vieira moved ahead of 2008 world champion Guilherme Marchi, who is ranked No. 2 with 7,572.81.

J.B. Mauney, the PBR’s defending world champion, finished third at the Thackerville show. He’s ranked No. 11 in the world standings with 4,973.50.

Mauney spoiled his chances of winning the title when he was bucked off of 2012 PBR World Champion Bull Asteroid in 3.04 seconds during the finals. Asteroid finished as the show’s highest marked bull after turning in a score of 46.

This weekend, the tour is scheduled to stop in Nashville. The 21st PBR World Finals is Oct. 22-26 at Las Vegas’ Thomas & Mack Center.

In the money

On the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association circuit, K.C. Jones, a seven-time National Finals Rodeo from Decatur, clinched the steer wrestling title at the traditional Labor Day Weekend Ellensburg (Wash.) Rodeo.

Jones turned in a final-round time of 4.9 seconds on Monday and finished No. 1 with a three-run time of 13.3 seconds.

Jones also won the Cheyenne (Wyo.) Frontier Days Rodeo in July and the Dodge City (Kan.) Round-up last month.

Trevor Brazile, a 19-time world champion from Decatur, clinched the all-around title in Ellensburg after earning $4,380 in roping events. Kaycee Feild, a three-time world champion, won the bareback riding title with a two-ride score of 169. He secured the title after turning in a final round score of 87 aboard a bronc named Special Delivery, owned by the Calgary Stampede.

Other winners at the $269,914 rodeo were team ropers Charly Crawford and Shay Carroll saddle bronc rider Chad Ferley, tie-down roper Hunter Herrin, barrel racer Christine Laughlin and bull rider Josh Koschel.

Playoffs scheduled

The 2014 Justin Boots Playoffs is scheduled for Friday through Sunday in Puyallup, Wash.

The show features the PRCA’s top 48 competitors in each event such as Trevor Brazile of Decatur. Last year, Brazile clinched the tie-down roping title at the Puyallup-based playoffs, which in turn helped him qualify for the December Wrangler National Finals in Las Vegas where he clinched a record 11th world all-around title.
