After a wild first half, The Colony turned to a methodical ground game to subdue Saginaw 34-16 on Friday night at Tommy Griggs Stadium.

Leading 19-16 at the half, The Colony turned to the duo of quarterback Andrew Lotz and Myles Benning, a 230-pound fullback, to put together scoring drives of 80 and 63 yards to stretch its advantage to 32-16 late in the game before adding a safety for it final points.

Saginaw relied on the passing of quarterback John Polston to fight its way back in the second quarter. He connected with Ray Malone for a 20-yard score and then an 82-yard pass to Sawyer Wachel just before halftime.

The Rough Riders’ first score was a 30-yard field goal by Maurico Rodriguez. Polston and John Fee connected on a 5-yard scoring pass for Saginaw with just seven seconds remaining in the game.
