Graham Pergande intercepted at the Lake Worth 35 with 1:16 left to preserve a 27-22 victory for Country Day at Kittrell Stadium in a momentum shifting game.

Lake Worth led 10-0 in the first half, then 22-14 at the end of the third quarter before the Falcons came back both times with a pair of touchdowns in the second and fourth quarters each.

Country Day led 14-10 at halftime on two touchdown runs by Brad Chilcoat from 2 and 6 yards out.

The first score came at the end of nine-play, 41-yard drive that saw the Falcons mix it up with five pass plays and four running plays. The passes by Mixson Staffel covered 39 yards and included those up the middle and toward the sidelines with quick, short screen passes.

Staffel rebounded from an inauspicious start when his first pass was intercepted by Nathan Powell at the Country Day 45. He returned it to the 22. But after a goal-line stand that saw the Bullfrogs unable to convert from the 2-yard line on second and goal, Country Day was forced to settle for a 22-yard field goal from Juan Becerra and the game’s first score.

On the ensuing kickoff, the Bullfrogs pooched it to the unsuspecting Falcons and recovered at the Lake Worth 47. From there, White drove his team the distance in seven plays before scoring from three yards out and a 10-0 lead, before Country Day began its first comeback.
