Burleson Centennial scored 39 first-quarter points Friday night en route to a 45-13 win over Fort Worth Eastern Hills in a nondistrict game at Scarbrough-Handley Field.

It was the first season-opening victory for the Spartans in their three-year varsity history.

Centennial’s Davonte Sanders put the Spartans up 8-0 with a 75-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. Payton Strambler scored on a 1-yard run, and Ricky Van Weezel had a 30-yard TD run and a Centennial safety made it 25-0.

A 22-yard pass from Strambler to Brad Cain and a 28-yard Austin Mortensen pass to Sanders capped the Spartans’ early outburst.
