Stephenville gave Anchorage (Alaska) South a glimpse of what Texas high school football is all about with its 43-0 stomping to open the season at Tarleton State University.

Anchorage South came into Friday’s game 2-0 on the season, but the Wolverines weren’t used to the heat that Texas has, and the speed of the Yellow Jackets was a shock for them, too.

Sophomore running back Kaegun Williams put the Yellow Jackets on the board in the first quarter, capping off a 16-play, 75-yard drive with a 1-yard run.

Stephenville all-state quarterback and Texas Tech commit Jarrett Stidham was every bit as advertised in the game, throwing for 252 yards on 14-of-26 passing, adding 68 yards on the ground in three quarters of play.

The Yellow Jackets, ranked No. 1 in the Class 4A Associated Press poll, carried a 14-0 lead into the second quarter after Stidham pounded his way into the end zone for a 1-yard run of his own late in the first quarter.

Williams finished with a game-high 112 receving yards on four receptions and 64 yards on the ground.
