Our President is vacationing while an American was beheaded by the vilest group ever known to man in the modern world.

His response should have been instant and violent. He should have immediately ordered massive deadly strikes against this evil group.

Instead he will probably diddle and dawdle, call a committee to “study” the situation, then a month or so from now announce his usual weak response.

America, wake up. The wolf is at the door!

— Carolyn J. Heinzelmann, Aledo

While the media coverage of the murder of James Foley has been extensive, our esteemed president is focused on an incident that took place in a small town in Missouri, which is outrageous and insulting to every American.

Let the people of Missouri handle the problems in Missouri.

The president of the United States of all America has a real tragedy to confront.

Our president may, as actions have proven, lead from behind. But he’s a genius at recognizing every opportunity to divert the focus away from the real crises we face.

What will it take for America to vaporize these terrorists and those who support them?

Didn’t someone once say, “Yes, we can”? Maybe the cry now should be “It stops here and it stops now!”

— Judith Thomason, Colleyville
