Washington to manage U.S. All-Stars in Japan

Texas Rangers manager Ron Washington will lead a team of major league All-Stars against Japan’s national team in a five-game series in November.

Robinson Cano of the Seattle Mariners, Adam Jones of the Baltimore Orioles, Yasiel Puig of the Los Angeles Dodgers and Albert Pujols of the Los Angeles Angels are among the players on the MLB team.

This will be the 11th All-Star series between MLB All-Stars and Japan All-Stars.

The series will run from Nov. 11-20 with games in Osaka, Sapporo and Tokyo. Two exhibition games will be in Osaka and Okinawa.

Hall of Fame weekend

Former Rangers president Tom Schieffer will be inducted as the 17th member of the Texas Rangers Baseball Hall of Fame at 6:35 p.m. Saturday during an on-field ceremony. First pitch is 7:35 p.m.

Former Rangers will be signing autographs on the concourse from 5:30 p.m.-6 p.m. Friday and from 5 p.m.-5:30 p.m. Saturday.
