We are deeply saddened by the passing of our very dear friend and long-time collaborator Susan Tilley.

Sinfonia Foundation will always remember that it was during her tenure as President of the Van Cliburn Foundation that we first started the beautiful Cliburn Galas in Santo Domingo with the three winners of each edition of the competition. These galas have become a much-cherished tradition in the Dominican Republic.

Ms. Tilley also contributed with brilliance to the founding, together with Maestro Philippe Entremont, of our Festival Musical de Santo Domingo and oversaw with unfailing artistic heft its first editions.

Susan was beautiful, smart, hard-working, generous, compassionate. As a friend, she was loyal and true. Most of all, she loved music. Her many achievements speak of that profound love.

Sinfonia Foundation wishes to join the Van Cliburn Foundation in mourning this loss. At the same time, we send Susan’s children and extended family our condolences.

Rest in peace, dear Susan.
