Great Wolf Lodge has given scholarships to 15 college students — including four from Grapevine.

The indoor waterpark resort company recently awarded a total of $56,000 to students across the brand. The company also awarded four scholarships to dependents of full-time employees to assist with their college education for the 2014-2015 school year.

Grapevine recipients of the 2014 Great Wolf Resorts Scholarship were Jared Gerard Wiegand, Baylor University; Travis Edward Diamond, Oklahoma State University; Rachael Renae Grubbs, El Centro College; and Rachel Chia-Wen Chang, Texas A&M University.

“Attending college helps open doors and provide new opportunities,” CEO Kim Schaefer said in a news release. “Our entire company supports the scholarship program and looks forward to it every year. We are so proud to give these scholarships to our hard-working pack members to help them on their path to higher education.”

The company began the annual Great Wolf Resorts Scholarship program in 2011, after the company’s participation in the CBS television show “Undercover Boss.” During her experience on the show, Schaefer met with pack members across the resort chain and was inspired by how many were working while attending college, the release said.

To date, Great Wolf Lodge has awarded $175,000 in scholarship money.

To apply for a scholarship, Great Wolf Lodge Pack Members submitted a letter of recommendation, an application and a personal essay. All submissions were reviewed by an outside committee. Recipients may choose any area of study they wish and enter any field they desire upon graduation.
