OXNARD, Calif. — Dez Bryant wasn’t going to predict how many touchdowns he’ll have this season, or create a stir when asked if any cornerback in the league could cover him.But Bryant had no issues talking about how good the Dallas Cowboys’ offense can be this season, or why he enjoys talking trash to opponents.Bryant was in good spirits, particularly about the offense, after a couple of joint practices against the Raiders on Tuesday and Wednesday.“We can be great,” Bryant said. “We can be. It’s all about believing.”Bryant went on to say his constant trash talk on the field was nothing more than “competitive talk” and that he’s matured enough to know how to handle himself in those situations. He now hopes it’s a way for him and his teammates to get under opposing teams’ skin.“A little stuff that I’ve been working on, me getting in their head instead of them getting into mine,” Bryant said. “It’s all about fun and competing.”Bryant praised the fight shown by several young receivers, as well. The first scrum during Wednesday’s practice featured three separate scuffles between Cowboys receivers and Raiders defensive backs.Cowboys rookie Devin Street got into it with safety Larry Asante; Dezmon Briscoe with Taiwan Jones; and LaRon Byrd with Keith McGill. It was a little scrum that broke up quickly, but Bryant still liked what he saw.“Here in Dallas, the wide receiver group backs down from no one,” Bryant said. “We don’t accept defeat and we’re going to fight. We want to be the best. In our eyes, we want to work to be the best receiving corps in the league. That’s what we want.”Bryant will make his preseason debut Saturday against the Ravens.Claiborne hurt againJust when it seems cornerback Morris Claiborne is getting it together, another injury sets him back. The latest happened Wednesday when Claiborne landed hard on his right shoulder.“It was kind of an awkward landing,” Claiborne said. “I just landed on it wrong.”It comes a day after Claiborne had one of his better practices Tuesday, which was his first full practice since suffering a right knee injury July 30.But Claiborne does not expect this to be a serious injury even though he’s had an injury riddled career so far.Productive practicesJason Garrett called Tuesday one of the best practices he’s seen in his life. The first joint practice between the Cowboys and Raiders was highlighted by two extended brawls and an energetic crowd that was on designated sides for each fan base.“It was as electric of an atmosphere as I have been on at a practice field in my life,” Garrett said. “Our offense had a tremendous home-field advantage over there with a lot of Cowboy fans on that side and the defense was playing on the road a little bit.IncomingThe Cowboys will add tight end Asa Watson, an undrafted rookie free agent from North Carolina State, to the roster, according to a source. The Cowboys first have to make a roster move to open a spot before Watson can sign a contract.
