Several Dallas Cowboys are active on Twitter, the social media site that allows them to directly connect and interact with fans. It’s something that a few players check multiple times per day and send out anything from an inspirational message to answering a fan’s question. There was plenty to talk about and share this past week with a train ride to San Diego, the first preseason game Thursday and then a bus ride home. Here are five of the top tweets from the past week.

1 Receiver Dez Bryant (@DezBryant) after Sunday’s practice: “We are getting better by the day #cowboysnation”

2 Safety Ahmad Dixon (@MrBU_5ix) after his breakout game Thursday: “Don’t really like being compared to [people]. I think I have a unique style of play... Not to sound cocky, that’s just me!!!”

3 Receiver Cole Beasley (@Bease11) after Thursday’s game: “This bus ride is about to be a long one. :(”

4 Linebacker Cameron Lawrence (@CamLaw10) before Wednesday’s train ride: “About to catch my first train ride down to San Diego for some football #PreseasonGame1

5 Cornerback B.W. Webb (@OhGi_3Dawg3) on Friday’s day off: “Gotta take care of the body on this off day... off to LA for a massage and to hit the cryo chamber!”

PAT talk

Coach Jason Garrett wouldn’t say whether or not he liked the longer extra points the NFL has used early on in the preseason. He opted to take the middle road.

“Maybe I will reserve my judgment on it,” he said. “It definitely heightened our attention. We were looking at it, and it’s a different kick. No question about that.”

The NFL is experimenting only in the first two preseason games with an extra point being 33 yards instead of 20. Cowboys kicker Dan Bailey said the additional length hasn’t affected him.

Quotes of the day

“I actually think I could play any position. I really do.” — Dez Bryant, on if he could play cornerback.

“I think Romo’s got a young body. Fundamentally the way he torques, the way he executes, I think he can handle the type of, if he’s compromised in any way, I think he can handle it real well. And I’ve always felt that about him. When I signed him to this last contract, I thought he was an exceptional good bet relative to his health.” — Owner Jerry Jones, on if he’s less concerned about Tony Romo’s health.
