Tony Romo has been limited in practice so far in training camp and sat out the preseason opener against San Diego on Thursday.

The Cowboys have said their star quarterback has been 100 percent since the opening of camp and is fully recovered from surgery to repair a herniated disk in his back last December.

But they have been taking it easy with Romo and have yet to map out a plan for his workload during preseason games.

“Not yet,” passing game coordinator Scott Linehan said. “We’re just getting ready for Saturday’s afternoon practice. I’m being honest. We’re not beyond that right now.”

Romo returned to practice today after four days off, going through the morning walkthrough and is expected to participate in the afternoon portion. He is also expected to get some game action in next Saturday’s game against Baltimore, but it remains unknown how many snaps he’ll play.

Asked if Romo needed a certain number of snaps before the regular-season opener Sept. 7 against San Francisco, Linehan said: “No. Just make sure he’s getting all the reps, whether it be practice or games, that we feel our necessary to be ready for the opening game.”
