Stop blame game

As a shareholder and 35-year employee at American Airlines, it’s unfortunate that letterwriter Mike Morgan has such a wrong-headed view of the old American and such a shortsighted view of the new American. (“Problem with unions,” July 31)

The employee unions played the most important role in the restructuring of our company so that it could successfully merge, gain new leadership and become profitable.

Our new CEO Doug Parker has repeatedly said it would not have been possible without the unions.

Old-school thinking and unimaginative corporate leadership are two of the main reasons our company was forced into bankruptcy. It’s time to stop blaming the employees.
