Due to suspicions of Russia’s role in the Ukraine war, the U.S. said it will sanction Russia.

It has also asked other nations to do the same.

Due to the downing of the plane and the supposed culpability of Russia, the U.S. called for additional sanctions. (See: “Russia violated arms treaty, U.S. says,” on July 29)

If the U.S. is sanctioning Russia, how is it possible that our exports to Russia have increased by 17 percent?

Sounds like the old Washington shell game — give the media one story and then switch.
