SAN DIEGO — Dan Bailey didn’t get a lot of work Thursday. With backup punter Cody Mandell handling kickoffs, Bailey was on the field only once.He made a 33-yard extra point.“Maybe we’ll get a couple of more attempts next week and see how it goes,” Bailey said. The league is experimenting with long extra points through next week’s slate of games. Owners voted to move extra-point tries from the 2-yard line to the 15-yard line during the first half of the preseason after kickers made 99.6 percent of their point-after-touchdowns last season. The Cowboys scored only one touchdown in a 27-7 loss to the San Diego Chargers.“It really didn’t feel much different,” Bailey said. “Honestly, the biggest difference was just waiting on everybody getting back to the line. I thought even the officials were a little slower to clear it or make the ball ready for play. I think that was really the biggest difference. Other than that, I spotted it on the right hash just to try it out instead of going right down the middle. I kind of approached it more like a field goal rather than a PAT. It was good to get at least one tonight. Hopefully next week when we play Baltimore, we’ll get a couple more shots at it.”Bailey has made 90.8 percent of his career field-goal attempts, including going 32-of-33 from 30-39 yards.
