Cowboys rookie safety Ahmad Dixon wasn’t worried being knocked out of Thursday night’s game with concussion-like symptoms.

Dixon received a concussion test in the fourth quarter after he collided with Chargers rookie running back Marion Grice on an 18-yard run.

“I got a little dinged up,” Dixon said. “It was just a little ‘Welcome to the NFL’ type of blow.”

Dixon said there were no troubling signs after the initial test, saying: “I had good signs. I remembered everything I was supposed to. I was walking pretty good, walking pretty steady, so I’m good.”

Dixon went on to say that he doesn’t feel as though he should miss any practice time because of the injury, although said he’ll do whatever the medical staff deems best.

Before being forced out of the game, Dixon saw plenty of action. The Baylor product finished with a team-high 11 tackles, including one for a loss.

Overall, Dixon did pretty much what the Cowboys should have expected. He delivered a few big hits on tackles, but also struggled some in pass coverage.

“I learned a lot,” Dixon said. “Coaches threw me out there a little bit early, so I got to showcase my skills a little bit. Overall, I feel good.”

In other injury news:

• Rookie running back Ben Malena exited the game with a quadriceps injury and was on crutches leaving the stadium. He had to be helped off the field with two trainers and is scheduled to have an MRI on Friday morning after hearing it “pop.” Said Malena, the Texas A&M product: “I’m not worried about it. I’m just focused on getting back on the field as fast as I can.”

• Rookie defensive end Dartwan Bush, a Texas Tech product, exited the game and is being evaluated for concussion symptoms.
