All seven Hawaiian Falls locations will host Champions Day for special needs children and their families at the waterparks on Saturday.

The Roanoke Hawaiian Falls park is located at 290 N. Oak St.

The guests and their families will have special access from 8:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m., then the park will open to the public from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The champions and their families can stay as long as they want at no additional charge.

“Champions Day is one of our favorite events,” David Busch, president of Hawaiian Falls Waterparks, said in a news release. “To see the joy on the children’s faces and the special bond with their families is priceless. We are proud to host them every year.”

Clint Hill, Hawaiian Falls regional director for North Texas, said the parks have been offering the special day for several years. At first it was once a year, but because of its popularity, the program has been expanded to twice a year.

The first this year was held June 21.

Donnie Vacanti of Rowlett and his son Tony, 10, attended the June event in Garland and said it was “a great time to spend with family.”

The family, which included his wife, Kim, enjoyed not having to wait for long lines.

Vacanti said the “staff was tremendous and made everyone smile.”

The “Champions” (special needs guests) get in free. Family can buy discounted tickets for $5 each at the gate (regular admission is $26.99) with a Champions Day coupon available to download at http://hfalls.com/championsday.

Besides Garland and Roanoke, the company has parks in The Colony, Mansfield, Pflugerville, Waco and White Settlement.
