Richard Greene’s explanation that the Israeli military is conducting “surgical strikes” on Gaza belies the killing of four children on the beach, the bombing of UN schools where Gaza residents have sought shelter and numerous other breaches of trust.

For Israel’s leaders to claim, as Netanyahu does, that Hamas is to blame because they “force” Israel to bomb civilians, strains credibility.

As for Greene’s explanation of Gov. Perry’s self-serving actions on the border, there are no “compelling” statistics about aliens committing thousands of violent crimes.

In fact, has given Perry the “Pants on Fire” award twice in the past month for making these assertions.

I suggest Mr. Greene check before excusing Netanyahu and Perry.

— Laurence A. Pimentel, Fort Worth

Greene’s reference to amnesty was misguided.

What we have now is amnesty. Eleven million plus people who crossed the border illegally or overstayed their visa live here without penalty.

Greene knows we can’t fully secure the border and we can’t ship 11 million plus people home. The Mayor and John Boehner have fallen victim to the same problem — Tea Party deference.

It is time we Republicans stopped running scared of the Tea Party and took our party agenda back.

Mayor Greene needs to offend Tea Party folks occasionally.

I must be a hater, because I am a conservative republican. (See Bob Ray Sanders’ Sunday column.)

I must be a hater, because I dislike President Obama’s liberal agenda, and would never vote for him.

I must be a hater, because I believe that his Presidential leadership is lacking.

I must be a hater because I do not like his immigration policy or Obamacare.

Do I really need to continue?

Bob Ray Sanders sees all who disagree with the president as haters.

I hate that the Democratic Party is happy to trash our constitution for political gain.

I hate that the media will not cover the story of the IRS being dangerously out of control.

I hate that liberals are willing to discard the concept of sovereign borders.

And I hate that Bob Ray cannot see that a clear difference of political ideology has nothing to do with skin color.

— Michael D. Korenman, Fort Worth
