Mac’s steaks are going downtown.Downtown Grapevine, that is — the new home of Mac’s on Main, replacing the family-owned steakhouse’s Colleyville location.Mac’s, a spinoff from a 1980s downtown Midland bar and grill frequented by then-resident George W. Bush, brought its West Texas steakhouse charm to the big city and south Arlington in 1987.A Fort Worth location proved problematic, but a Colleyville location has consistently thrived as a midprice steakhouse known for prime rib and Sunday brunch.The Colleyville location will remain open through Aug. 28, then close and reopen in historic Grapevine over GrapeFest weekend in a space formerly occupied by Cork It.The Frost family, now owners and former executives under founder Mike McMahon, jumped at the chance to move to the location with two patios and a brighter, fresher look than the Colleyville space. Rena Frost sent thanks for those who mentioned Mac’s West Texas-style chicken-fried steak last week when old-time Fort Worth landmark Massey’s closed.Chicken-fried steak is Mac’s No. 1 seller in Arlington, but the Colleyville location draws more family dining and sells more prime rib and filets, she said.The new Grapevine location will add more seafood and a hanger steak along with the Mac’s chicken-fried. It becomes a midprice competitor between high-end Bob’s Steak & Chop House and Texas-flavored Tolbert’s.It’ll be well-placed for Sunday brunch crowds on historic Main Street.The new location will be 909 S. Interstate 20; 817-572-0541.Righteous and nearly readySurrounded by new restaurants, Lanny Lancarte II swears he’ll reopen his soon, too.Righteous Foods, Lancarte’s new good-and-good-for-you all-day restaurant, will open next month, he wrote in a short note.Lancarte had hoped for a Labor Day opening in his former Alta Cocina Mexicana space, but he’s still working on the final menu.Righteous Foods will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, Lancarte has said. It sounds vaguely similar to fresh-dining chains in Dallas such as True Food Kitchen or Lyfe Kitchen.It’s in the former Lanny’s at 3405 W. Seventh St., near the coming Dee Lincoln’s Steak Bar and the grass-fed Burgundy Pasture Beef meat market and weekend burger cafe.Green chiles galoreLet it be noted that Hatch green chile season has begun at Blue Mesa Grill.All Blue Mesa locations are serving stacked blue corn enchiladas with Hatch chile-pozole, Hatch chiles rellenos and a special Hatch green chile-chocolate brownie sundae.A special dinner buffet Aug. 13 will celebrate the season ($16); five locations include University Park Village in Fort Worth and Lincoln Square in Arlington, bluemesagrill.com.The Chuy’s restaurants start their Hatch festival Aug. 16.
