Ladouceur’s five favorite trips

Long snapper L.P. Ladouceur loves to travel. He played golf at Pinehurst this summer and took his annual trip to Cabo San Lucas. He still has plenty of places left on his bucket list despite traveling all over the world.

“I’d like to go to Cape Town. I’d like to do a safari. And I’d like to get in a cage and see a great white shark,” Ladouceur said.

Here are Ladouceur’s five favorite trips so far:

1 “It’s really hard to beat Pebble Beach.”

2 “I really liked Salzburg, Austria. It’s really pretty. It’s just so cool how you’re in the mountains right there and the waters are the bluest you’ve seen them, because they were caved lakes.”

3 “Monte Carlo. Just the wealth in Monaco, and the craziness of people who have too much money, and they show it. The restaurants and the casino. I’m a big James Bond fan.”

4 “We got married in Virgin Gorda in the British Virgin Islands. It’s a really nice place. It had some really cool spots for snorkeling.”

5 “Obviously the last one has to be Machu Picchu. The procession to get there is like a four-day hike, and you’re so tired by the time you’re done, and you get there the morning of, and you go through the sun gate.”

Attendance down

The Cowboys had their best attendance of camp so far Sunday, drawing 5,977. But their total attendance of 27,724 through Monday is way down from last year. They had drawn 36,540 to this point last year.

“I’m not concerned, because I appreciate the crowds we do have,” Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said.

This is the Cowboys’ ninth training camp in Oxnard and the final year of a three-year deal. But the team has a series of three one-year options.

Extra point

The league began its experiment with 33-yard extra points during Sunday’s Pro Football Hall of Fame Game.

“I guess it’s a good opportunity to practice 33-yard field goals is the way I’m looking at it,” said kicker Dan Bailey, who hopes to get his attempts in Thursday’s preseason game at San Diego.

Quote of the day

“I went home this summer, and I went down and had lunch with him and Jeff Gooch. He’s the general manager of the Tampa Bay Storm, and he’s got that 55 jersey back behind his desk. He’s a special guy now. He really is. We got there in 1996. It was the first time I ever met him. I had come from the Saints, and I had my notes from the draft in 1995. We took a linebacker named Mark Fields with the 13th pick. He always gave me a hard time about that. I said, ‘Look at my notes: Derrick Brooks. Instinctive. Great player. Got to look at him hard.’ He never let me forget it.” — Cowboys assistant head coach/defense Monte Kiffin on Derrick Brooks, who thanked Kiffin in his Hall of Fame speech Saturday.
