It seems that many are willing to give Putin a pass.

It is becoming abundantly clear that Putin suffers from megalomania, a psychological disorder characterized by a delusional belief in one’s own superiority, greatness, power and importance.

Anyone who has seen the videos of a shirtless Putin ostensibly performing great hunting feats, scoring goals in hockey games, etc., probably laughed at the absurdity of his claims, but those clips reveal an individual who imagines himself as some sort of Russian superhero.

This is a dangerous condition for someone who still sits on a nuclear stockpile.

Despite Putin’s inflated ego, it is the Russian oligarchs who really run things and enough economic pain will have them reining in their ubermensch.
