A disturbance at a Johnson County home Monday morning left one man dead and his estranged girlfriend injured, authorities said Tuesday.

Deputies with the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office identified the victim as Ryan Paul Butteris, 20, who died at the scene.

His 17-year-old estranged girlfriend suffered injuries and was taken to a local hospital, said Capt. Mike Gilbert with the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday. Her condition was not available Tuesday.

No other injuries were reported, but other people were in the residence at the time of the shooting.

Deputies responded to a disturbance call about 6:45 a.m. Monday in the 1700 block of Woodview Drive in Alvarado.

When they arrived, deputies found Butteris with a gunshot wound to his chest.

Investigators provided no details on the disturbance call.

No one had been arrested as of Tuesday morning, but the investigation continued.

Investigators with the Texas Rangers are assisting deputies with the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office in the investigation.
