Applications for free and reduced-price meals at Arlington school district campuses will be available on Monday.

The district’s Food & Nutrition Services Department is mailing out letters this week about eligibility benefits and how to apply.

District employees are working with local agencies to identify eligible students, spokeswoman Leslie Johnston said.

The applications are available online at schoollunchapp.com or in person at 1206 W. Arkansas Lane.

Adults must fill out the applications to qualify for free and reduced-price meals and must include the names and income of all household members.

Households that receive Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits or Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR) assistance are also eligible receive free and reduced-price lunch for their children, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture website.

Parents who don’t receive eligibility letters in the mail and feel that is a mistake can check with their child’s campus or complete the application online.

If that doesn’t clear up any confusion, contact Tommy Hart, Food & Nutrition Services compliance coordinator, at 682-867-7895 or 682-867-7888.

Applications can be submitted anytime during the school year, so if the income level at a household changes, an adult can contact the school district.
