Anthony Spencer is tired of watching from the sidelines as he recovers from microfracture surgery on his knee, but understands it’s part of the grueling rehab process.

Spencer was one of two players who began training camp on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list. Spencer is hopeful to get off it and take some reps during training camp, but acknowledged he might begin the season on it.

If so, Spencer would not be out for at least the first six weeks of the season.

“It’s a possibility, but I’m not concerned about it,” Spencer said.

For now, Spencer is taking it day to day and going through the plan the Cowboys’ have laid out for him. He said he’ll probably be running straight ahead and pulling and pushing sleds for another week or two before trying to cut on it.

“I haven’t had any setbacks, so we’ve just got to keep going and moving forward,” Spencer said. “I’m working through it. It is what it is.”

Spencer, 30, had knee issues last training camp and played only 34 snaps in the regular season before undergoing the more extensive microfracture procedure.
