Tony Romo says he’ll be better than ever

Tony Romo says the best days of his career are ahead of him.

Romo has had two back surgeries in the past year, but is healthy and confident that he’ll be better than ever.

“I feel personally like I’ve just started to come into the player that I wanted to be six, seven years ago,” Romo said. “I think over the course of the next four or five years, you’ll see the best version of me that I’ve had throughout my career.

“That’s for a lot of different reasons, but I really believe that. I believe that will show as we go forward, so I’m excited about that.”

Romo started the Cowboys’ first 15 games last season before undergoing season-ending surgery in December to repair herniated disk in his back. He had undergone another operation on his back in April 2013.

Did Romo ever fear he might not come back?

“Nah,” he said. “I didn’t think about that. I’m sure one day when I’m 45, the body will tell me I’m done playing.”

Romo, 34, is going into his 11th season in the NFL and is looking to take the Cowboys back to the postseason for the first time since the 2009 season.
