Tony Romo has been declared full-go for training camp.

Coach Jason Garrett said Romo’s recovery from back surgery last December has been “outstanding,” and that the star quarterback will not be limited early on in camp.

“He’s made great strides,“ Garrett said. “He has been working hard on his conditioning, on his throwing and we do anticipate him being ready to go for all aspects.”

The Cowboys will monitor Romo closely, though, and evaluate him on a daily basis. The success of this season could largely depend on Romo staying healthy for the entirety of it.

“In a situation like this, you want to monitor his throws and make sure his reps are quality reps,” Garrett said. “That he is not just out there banging balls.”

Romo has already had to come back from a similar back surgery he underwent in April 2013. He recovered and started the first 15 games last season before requiring the second surgery.

In other injury news:

• Defensive tackle Henry Melton (torn ACL) is expected to be full-go and has not had any setbacks in his rehab.

• Defensive end Anthony Spencer (microfracture surgery on his knee) and defensive tackle Amobi Okoye (personal medical issue) are not ready to participate in camp and could be placed on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list.
